The BBC continuity announcer is a reoccurring character in Monty Python's Flying Circus, used to link sketches together. He says "And now for something completely different" in unexpected areas. In later episodes, his line is shortened to “And now”. He initially appears in the episode "Sex and Violence," played by Eric Idle. In his subsequent appearances, he is portrayed by John Cleese.
