Climbing the North Face of the Uxbridge Road is a sketch that appears in "Salad Days," the thirty-third episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Synopsis[]

A voiceover introduces a British expedition that is attempting to climb the north face of the Uxbridge Road, horizontally. Another presenter (Eric Idle) commentates their miniscule progress so far. A presenter (John Cleese) interviews a climber, Bert (Graham Chapman), who is lying on the ground. He explains he has to reach a nearby bus stop by climbing up the gutter. The interview cuts to a viking (Michael Palin) who says "lemon curry?" and it cuts back. The climbers lose their grip and fall down the pavement (achieved by stop motion animation).
