Crelm Toothpaste/Shrill Petrol is a sketch that appears in "How Not to Be Seen," the twenty-fourth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Synopsis[]

Continuing on from the previous animation, another voice over (Eric Idle) cuts in to advertise Crelm toothpaste, with the miracle ingredient, Fraudulin. He uses the example of two cars running race to represent Crelm vs. another toothpaste. Both Cars pass the 30% and 60% protection barriers without incident, but upon reaching 90% protection, the car representing the other toothpaste suddenly flips onto its roof and the car representing Crelm goes on to splatter itself against the 100% protection finish line.

Suddenly, a cartoon scientist (Michael Palin) cuts in to advertise Shrill Petrol with the new additive, GLC9424075 (after 6PM, 9424047). He uses a white card to represent engine deposits and a black card to represent Shrill Petrol, and explains the benefits of Shrill as the deposits are pushed offscreen, leaving only a black background. Suddenly, a shot rings out and the scientist is cut off in mid-speech before letting out a yelp. A crash is then heard offscreen as the lights come up...
