Film Director is a sketch that appears in "How Not to Be Seen," the twenty-fourth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Synopsis[]
Matthew Padget (Terry Jones) interviews director Martin Curry about his latest film The Twelve Caesars. He accidentally says 'tusk' instead of 'task' but quickly corrects himself, and the camera turns to Curry (Graham Chapman) who sports large tusk-like front teeth. Padget points out how all the characters had enormous front teeth, but can't bring himself to say it properly, so he shows a clip.
On a smaller screen, The Twelve Caesars plays, with a scene featuring Labienus (Jones) with long front teeth. Caesar (Chapman) stands, with much longer front teeth.
Padget asks him why, and mentions how even in his biblical film The Son of Man, John the Baptist had very large teeth. Curry tells him he doesn't see it at all and asks for a straw to drink his glass of water.
A clip from Trafalgar plays, with Admiral Nelson (Eric Idle), surrounded by others with very large front teeth, himself included. He calls for Hardy (Michael Palin) who leans out of the group to show much longer front teeth.
It cuts back to the studio, where Curry is drinking his water with difficulty, and it cuts to vox pops of what people thought about the film.
