International Wife-Swapping is a sketch that appears in "Grandstand," the thirty-ninth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Synopsis[]

Grandstand8

Rugby League match

The presenter of the Wife-Swapping from Redcar John Rickman (Michael Palin) relays the events of the day so far, including a man who managed to swap his wife for a Ford Poplar and complete set of Dickens. We spectate a wife-swapping race, with wives running in and out of different houses on the street, ending with Mrs Griffiths who didn't manage to swap. Rickman interviews the trainer of the winner Mrs Casey, Mr Jack Casey (Terry Jones). Casey comments proudly on his wife's progress.

Elsewhere at a wife-swapping event between the North West and South East in Reading, the presenter Peter West (Eric Idle) introduces the formation event, with the North West performing first. At first they prepare to dance a ballroom mambo, but eventually roll onto the floor, frolicking with each other.

It cuts to the Rugby League with a match between Keighley and Hull Kingston Rovers. Mrs Colyer is tossed into the middle of the scrum and is kicked out, with the players tossing her around, scoring a try. The presenter of Grandstand Frank Bough signs off, and four screens of sexual activities (mostly involving undressing) play under the credits.
