Maître D' was a supporting character in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. He was a French restaurant owner who worked with Gaston. In "The Autumn Years" a rich man by the name of Mr Creosote come in and starts throwing up everywhere, Maître tells Gaston to get a bucket for him and a cleaning woman for the floor. Over time, the restaurant loses customers and Mr Creosote gets too full. Maître then asks if he would like a wafer-thin mint so he eats it, then he runs and takes cover as Mr Creosote starts to get larger and larger until he explodes. In "The Autumn Years Part B: The Meaning of Life" the cleaning woman and Maître D' talk about the meaning of it all until the cleaning woman makes a racist comment and he tries to apologise. He was played by John Cleese.
