Mr Neville Shunt is a sketch that appears in "How Not to Be Seen," the twenty-fourth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Synopsis[]

Sitting in his office surrounded by train memorabilia, Neville Shunt (Terry Jones) enthusiastically types away at his typewriter, imitating train sounds.

An art critic, Gavin Millarrrrrrrrr (the 'r's are rolled) (John Cleese) explains how some people think Shunt's work is "a load of rubbish about railway timetables" but clever people like him who speak loudly in restaurants see it as a meaningful piece of work, and goes on a long speech about gibberish.

When he is finished, it cuts to an interviewer (Michael Palin) who turns the discussion to the silver screen, but has trouble stopping himself making dental references. He passes on to another interviewer, Matthew Padget.
