Mystico and Janet - Flats Built by Hypnosis is a sketch that appears in "The Nude Organist," the thirty-fifth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Synopsis[]
Following the housing development and interchange, the presenter (Michael Palin) says how in Peterborough, there are "over fifty hypnosis-induced twenty-five story blocks, put up by El Mystico and Janet", who then demonstrate how they hypnotically build blocks of flats.
Mr Ken Verybigliar (Palin) is interviewed on the efficiency of flats built by hypnosis. Mr Clement Onan (Graham Chapman), the architect, reassures the public that they're safe, as long as they believe in them. A tenant (Eric Idle) agrees, saying that if the residents stop believing in the building, it will fall down. However, upon realising his previous house (a villa in Nice) was much better, the building starts to fall down. The tenant corrects himself, and the building stops tilting.
The presenter then goes on to describe the life of The Amazing Mystico (Terry Jones) and the many achievements of Janet (Marie Anderson), somehow making trailing off into talking about crime in Leeds. A police constable (Jones) tells the audience everything is under control, but many police voices and reports are interrupting him over his radio.
