Nationwide is a sketch that appears in "Hamlet," the forty-third episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Synopsis[]
The presenter Michael Charlton (Eric Idle) decides to talk about the latest theory that sitting down regularly in a comfortable chair can rest your legs, rather than the Third World War that broke out this morning.
The reporter John Dull (Graham Chapman) is sitting on Westminster Bridge on an arm chair, seeing how much time sitting down can take. He reports his legs do feel rested, until a policeman (Michael Palin) walks up to him and accuses him of stealing the arm chair from Mrs Edgeworth in Pinner. The policeman shows him the nametag on the bottom of the chair, but suddenly accuses John of not believing he is a policeman.
