Puss in Boots is a sketch from "Mr and Mrs Brian Norris' Ford Popular", the twenty-eighth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Synopsis[]

The ship crew are brought in, this time without trousers. The officer (Terry Gilliam), also without trousers, tells his captain (John Cleese) that he found them walking on the beach, to which the ship's captain (Terry Jones) tells him they are British Naval officers before a woman (Julia Breck) comes in, dressed a principal boy, holding a stuffed cat and proclaimed Puss in Boots, to which the police captain tells them to stop as they are in the 'Police Department of the State of Venezuela', before she starts a small talk along saying 'Oh, no, it isn't' as the naval officers also join in before the police captain gets out a gun and shuts them up while coming from behind his desk, also not wearing trousers. He asks the naval officers what ship they're from to which the captain tells a story about the 'SS Mothergoose', during which the officer (Eric Idle), who also isn't wearing trousers, tells the captain he got 30 bob for the trousers.

As the naval captain tells his story, stagehands take the set apart, revealing that they are in a living room until Mrs. Kelly (Michael Palin) and her husband (Graham Chapman) come in, demanding why they're doing Horse of the Year in the living room, told by Mr. Fox. The police captain actor tells her they had the wrong room as they're BBC 2 before the naval captain actor tells her that BBC 1 are in the kitchen. Concerned about her binette, they take off with Mr. Kelly telling them to turn the gas off before they leave as the actors continue their play. In the hallway outside the kitchen, the Kellys hear Harvey Smith crash, forcing Mrs. Kelly to kick the entire BBC group out of her house, including Mr. Fox (Jones) and the presenter (Idle).

The credits are names written on sheets of scattered paper on the Kelly's floor.

Trivia[]
