Quiz Programme: "Wishes" is a sketch that appears in "Intermission," the thirteenth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Synopsis[]
An interviewer (John Cleese) interviews two small boys (Eric Idle and Michael Palin). He asks Eric if he wants a 16-ton weight dropped on top of him, to which he responds "Don't know." He asks the other boy what he wants, and he says he wants to have Raquel Welch dropped on top of him.
He then interviews Trevor Atkinson (Graham Chapman) who says he is 42. He also interviews his friend, (Michael Palin) who talks about his insurance job. The interviewer asks Trevor what his big wish would be, and Trevor responds "more fairy stories about the police." A fairy godmother (Idle) hops into shot and says "And so you shall" before waving her wand.
It cuts to a policeman (Terry Jones) who gets off his bike, takes out a burglar costume and pumps it up. The burglar then runs away and the policeman summons three other policemen and they follow the burglar through the countryside. The burglar then catches them in a huge gift box and runs off, before the fairy godmother dressed as a policeman makes him disappear.
Another policeman (Palin) tells the audience the Special Crime Squad have been using wands for a year now, and how easy they are to use. Something the truncheons can't do.
