Revolting Cocktails is a lost sketch that originally appeared in "E. Henry Thripshaw's Disease", the thirty-sixth episode of "Monty Python's Flying Circus".

Synopsis[]

At a bar, "The Fox and Half-a-Bee", three city gents enter to find a cheerful bartender (Graham Chapman) at work. They all call him different names and describe their orders. Mark (Terry Jones) requests a special. The bartender suggests a “twist of lemming" to which Mark agrees to have one. The bartender squeezes a lemming's neck into the glass and gives Mark his drink. Alex (Michael Palin) requests a Mallard Fizz. As the city gents have a conversation, the bartender puts some angostura and vodka into a cocktail shaker, beheads a mallard to put its head in and puts an egg and tabasco sauce in as well. He frantically shakes the shaker. After drinking his drink, Mark runs off to vomit as Alex is given his drink.

The final city gent (John Cleese) requests "Harlem Stinger". At which, Rastus (Terry Gilliam), the bartender's assistant, comes in and is given multiple bottles and some extras which he gargles and spits out. Alex drinks his Mallard Fizz and leaves. The city gent pays for the drinks and swallows his Harlem Stinger. He runs to the bathroom door to try and vomit but instead vomits in a waste paper basket. Mark returns pale and asks the bartender to be easy on the lemming next time. Alex comes back and asks for something lighter, eventually settling on a Safari Snowball. The city gent asks if there are any cocktails that aren't horrible to which the bartender replies "I'm afraid not, sir". The city gent ponders why they even come to the bar.

Censorship[]

It is unknown why the sketch was cut from the episode but it is presumed to be because of the violent and dark nature of the cocktail's ingredients.
