Silly Vicar is a sketch that appears in "Archaeology Today," the twenty-first episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Synopsis[]

A voiceover (Michael Palin) introduces a plea for sanity by Reverend Arthur Belling (Graham Chapman). The reverend, with an axe stuck in his head, talks about sane people. He calls out to all insane people, including him, to help these people overcome their sanity, such as ping-pong ball eyes and funny voices, painting their body and making funny noises. The voiceover announces he is the Reverend of St. Loony-Up-The-Cream-Bun-and-Jam.

It cuts to an appeal on behalf of the National Truss.
