The Bruces are a group of Australians that all have the name "Bruce". They first appeared in "How To Recognise Different Parts of the Body" and were also seen in live shows such as, Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl and Monty Python Live (Mostly). They live in a run-down cabin near the woods and have a table for beer. They are most famous for their song, "Philosopher Song" where they sing about different philosophers being drunk and rude.
Behind the Scenes[]
The main idea for the sketch and characters was that Eric Idle knew a lot of Australians named "Bruce". So he wrote the sketch and made it funny by making it confusing to know was who and how their new friend got as confused as the audience.
