Trim-Jeans Theatre is a sketch that appears in "Mr and Mrs Brian Norris' Ford Popular," the twenty-eighth episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Synopsis[]

A trio of Australian presenters, Mark Edwards, Jean Wennerstrom and Gary Coover (Michael Palin, Graham Chapman and Eric Idle) pose wearing trim-jeans. They explain the pros for wearing these jeans.

It cuts to a cathedral where a priest (Chapman) insists he is not a traitor to the king. Four knights in turn order him to resign, with the last ordering "lose inches off your hips, thighs, buttocks and abdomen."

Back to the studio, a before and after is shown of Kevin Francis (Terry Jones) wearing trim jeans. The screen transitions to the after, where Kevin has become a smaller, thinner much older man (John Hughman).

The presenters tell the audience they can watch classic plays with the actors wearing trim-jeans. A Great Escape-esque scene involves soldiers in trim-jeans sneaking past German soldiers who also wear trim-jeans.

The curtain then closes. An animation by Terry Gilliam follows where a compère tries to announce the next item on the program. However, his mouth escapes as it's fed up with saying whatever the compère wants to say. The compère chases his mouth and eventually, nails it to his head. Through a sign, he introduces The Fish-Slapping Dance.
